Talents Forever
Privacy. The short version: your builds live in your browser, the analytics are anonymous, and ads may set cookies.
What this site is
talentsforever.com is a fan-made talent calculator for World of Warcraft: Forever, run by one person. There are no accounts and nothing to buy. The one sign-up is the optional email alert, described under Class alerts and news below.
Builds you save
Save build keeps your builds in your own browser, in local storage. They never leave your device unless you share a link. A share link contains the build itself, so anyone with the link can see that build and nothing else.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics 4 and PostHog to count visits and see which parts of the calculator people use, for example which class pages are popular or how often builds get shared. These tools set cookies and record things like your country, browser, screen size and the pages you open. They do not know who you are. The data is used only to improve the site.
The site also keeps its own tally of how often pages and builds are viewed, opened from a link, shared and saved. That is where Popular builds and the Wrapped come from. It sets no cookie and keeps no address or id, only daily counts.
The ideas page
On the ideas page, a press of a CurseForge button is added to that same tally: a count, nothing about you. If you type something into the open box, the site keeps your words, plus a Reddit name only if you choose to leave one. It keeps no address, no browser details and no id with it. Only the person who runs the site reads it, and it is used only to decide what gets built. A note sent from the in-game addon carries a six-letter tag the addon made up, so a reply can be shown back inside the addon under that note; the tag says nothing about you.
Class alerts and news
If you ask to be told when a class guide is up, the site keeps your email address, the classes you ticked, the time you ticked them and the exact words you agreed to. That is the whole record. It lives on this site's own server (a small database on the same private disk as the anonymous counts), and the only thing that ever sees your address outside it is the mail service that delivers each message, at the moment it is sent. Every message carries a one-click link that unsubscribes you from everything, and the alerts page (the confirm link in any message opens it) lets you change your classes, switch news on or off, or delete every row about you. Addresses that only asked for class alerts are deleted thirty days after the last guide goes live. If you ticked the news box, news means a note when a beta build moves the talents, built from the same What's new data the site shows, with the classes you ticked first, and now and then what changed on the site; a few times a month at most, each one sent by hand, and the same one-click link stops it. Nothing is sold, shared or used for anything you did not tick.
Ads
The site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can opt out of personalised advertising at Google Ads Settings or aboutads.info. How Google uses data from sites that use its services is explained at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, you will be asked for consent before any personalised ads are shown, and you can change that choice at any time from the link in the footer.
Sponsored partners
The calculator pages carry cards labelled Sponsored partner, and the site each one names pays to be there. Guilds Forever, a site for finding a WoW Forever guild, has a card on every class page. NZXT has a card for its Flex gaming PCs inside Popular builds and on each class's builds page, shown to readers in the United States only. The cards set no cookie and load nothing from the partner; their pictures are served from this site.
To show the NZXT card only in the US, the page asks this site which country your connection comes from. That is the country Cloudflare already attaches to every request, and nothing is kept. The NZXT card comes in a few versions so NZXT can see which one works best. The version you were given is a short word like build-castle, kept in your browser's local storage so you see the same one next time, and it says nothing about you.
When at least half of a card has been on your screen for a second, the page adds that to the site's own tally, and pressing its button goes through talentsforever.com/go/guilds-forever or talentsforever.com/go/nzxt, which counts the press before sending you on. Both are counted like the rest of the tally: by class page and by day, and for NZXT by version, with no address and no id kept. Google Analytics and PostHog, above, see the press as they see any other click. Each partner gets its own totals (how often its card was shown and pressed) and nothing about any one person.
The link you land on carries tags that say you came from Talents Forever, which page you were on and, for NZXT, which version of the card you saw, so the partner can count the visit. Nothing about you is in them. Once you are on the partner's site, its own privacy policy applies.
Server logs
The site is hosted on Railway behind Cloudflare. Like every web server, they log IP addresses and request details for a short time to keep the site running and to stop abuse.
Fonts and icons
Fonts load from Google Fonts. Spell icons and art are Blizzard Entertainment's and are served from this site.
