A talent calculator, read from the beta

What this site is

Talents Forever is a talent calculator for World of Warcraft: Forever. It holds the full talent trees for all nine classes, every race's racial abilities, the account-wide Legacy perks, and a spellbook for each class. You click out a build, watch the points add up, colour in what changed since Classic, and share the whole thing as a link.

It is free to use. There is no account, no sign-up and nothing to buy. Nothing is kept behind a login.

Where the numbers come from

Every talent, every rank of tooltip text, every racial and every spellbook row is read out of the World of Warcraft: Forever beta client itself. None of it is copied from another site. When a new beta build lands, the files are read again and the differences are written up on the beta changes page, build by build.

Files are only half the job. The trees are also read in game, class by class, and the spellbooks are checked against a real city trainer, because a game file can carry a line the game never shows you. Each page says plainly what has been checked and what is still being worked through.

Readers keep it honest

A good share of the fixes come from people who play. A rank that reads wrong, a weapon requirement the files leave out, a spell that is not where the data said it would be. Every report is checked against the client before a single number moves.

When a report turns out to be right, the reader who sent it is credited by name on the site, in What's new, next to the change they found. That credit is the point. This is a small site that gets better because people take the time to say something.

The data is yours to take

All of it is published as plain JSON. One file per class, for example talentsforever.com/export/warrior.json, and the whole set at once at talentsforever.com/data.json. The talent data is licensed CC BY 4.0, so you are welcome to use it in your own tool, addon, guide or spreadsheet. Just credit the site with a link. Game text, icons and art are Blizzard Entertainment's and are not covered by that licence.
