What changed for Rogue in WoW ForeverA guide to every Rogue change since Classic: talents, abilities and racials that are new, changed, moved or gone, from the beta client and the beta build tracker, each line with the build it came from. Last checked against beta build 1.60.1.70245 on 6 Oct 2026.

The three biggest changes: Venom is a new 31-point capstone talent at the bottom of Assassination; Thousand Cuts is a new 31-point capstone talent at the bottom of Subtlety; 9 Rogue talents are new since Classic (Mutilate, Venom, Flawless Execution, Hack and Slash and 5 more).

Rogue has 53 talents in WoW Forever against 51 in Classic: 9 new, 31 changed in text, ranks or prerequisite, 2 moved, 11 the same and 7 gone, and 20 Rogue abilities are new or changed. Compare to Classic in the Rogue calculator colours each talent the same way, and every Rogue talent in words has each rank's text. The beta runs until 21 October 2026 and the game launches 4 November 2026; each beta build's Rogue changes are added from the build tracker.

New Rogue talents in WoW Forever 9

  • MutilateAssassination row 5 (level 30), 1 rank. Instantly attacks with both weapons for 75% weapon damage plus an additional 13 with each weapon. Damage increased by 20% against Poisoned targets. Awards 2 Combo Points. As the beta client has it (build 1.60.1.70170).
  • VenomAssassination row 7 (level 40), 1 rank. Finishing move that increases the damage of your Poisons by 30% and your chance to apply Poisons by 10%. Lasts longer per combo point: 1 point : 9 sec 2 points: 12 sec 3 points: 15 sec 4 points: 18 sec 5 points: 21 sec Last changed in build 70170, 1 Oct 2026.
  • Flawless ExecutionCombat row 4 (level 25), 1 rank. Reduces the Energy cost of your Eviscerate ability by 10. Last changed in build 69876, 16 Sep 2026.
  • Hack and SlashCombat row 5 (level 30), 5 ranks. At 5/5: Gives your melee weapon attacks a benefit depending on the weapon. Axe/Sword: Your successful melee attacks have a 5% chance to trigger an extra attack on the target. Dagger/Fist: Increases your critical strike chance by 5%. Mace: Your attacks ignore 15% of your target's armor. Replaces Classic's Dagger Specialization, Fist Weapon Specialization, Mace Specialization and Sword Specialization.   • Dirty TricksSubtlety row 2 (level 15), 2 ranks. At 2/2: Reduces the Energy cost of your Sap and Blind abilities by 50%. As the beta client has it (build 1.60.1.70170).
  • Improved DistractSubtlety row 3 (level 20), 2 ranks. At 2/2: Increases the radius of your Distract ability by 5 yds, and further reduces the Stealth detection of distracted enemies as though they were an additional 2 levels lower. As the beta client has it (build 1.60.1.70170).
  • QuietusSubtlety row 6 (level 35), 5 ranks. At 5/5: Your Sinister Strike, Ghostly Strike, and Hemorrhage abilities cause 10% more damage against targets below 35% health. As the beta client has it (build 1.60.1.70170).
  • CutthroatSubtlety row 6 (level 35), 5 ranks. At 5/5: Your Backstab has a 15% chance to cause your next Ambush within 10 sec to not require Stealth. As the beta client has it (build 1.60.1.70170).
  • Thousand CutsSubtlety row 7 (level 40), 1 rank. When your Rupture ability deals periodic damage, the Energy cost of your next Hemorrhage or Backstab ability within 10 sec is reduced by 3, stacking up to 5 times. As the beta client has it (build 1.60.1.70170).

  • MurderAssassination row 2 (level 15), 2 ranks. Classic rank 1: Increases all damage caused against Humanoid, Giant, Beast and Dragonkin targets by 1%. Now: Increases all damage dealt by 2% against Humanoid and Giant targets. As the beta client has it (build 1.60.1.70170).
  • Improved Expose ArmorAssassination row 3 (level 20), 2 ranks. Classic rank 1: Increases the armor reduced by your Expose Armor ability by 25%.   • LethalityAssassination row 3 (level 20), 5 ranks.   • Seal FateAssassination row 6 (level 35), 5 ranks. Was Assassination row 6, column 2, now column 3, no longer requires Cold Blood. Classic rank 1: Your critical strikes from abilities that add combo points have a 20% chance to add an additional combo point.   • PremeditationSubtlety row 4 (level 25), 1 rank. Was Subtlety row 7, now row 4, no longer requires Preparation, no longer requires Stealth (Classic did). Classic rank 1: When used, adds 2 combo points to your target. You must add to or use those combo points within 10 sec or the combo points are lost. Now: Adds 2 Combo Points to your target.   • Serrated BladesSubtlety row 4 (level 25), 3 ranks. Classic rank 1: Causes your attacks to ignore 100 of your target's Armor and increases the damage dealt by your Rupture ability by 10%. The amount of Armor reduced increases with your level. Now: Causes your attacks to ignore 3% of your target's Armor and increases the damage dealt by your Rupture ability by 10%.   • Dirty DeedsSubtlety row 5 (level 30), 2 ranks. Was Subtlety row 5, column 3, now column 1. Classic rank 1: Reduces the Energy cost of your Cheap Shot and Garrote abilities by 10.   • HemorrhageSubtlety row 5 (level 30), 1 rank. Was Subtlety row 5, column 4, now column 3. Is Adrenaline Rush still a Rogue talent in WoW Forever?
Yes. Adrenaline Rush is in Combat row 7, 1 rank, the same as Classic.
Do Rogues still have Dagger Specialization, Fist Weapon Specialization, Mace Specialization and Sword Specialization in WoW Forever?
No. They merged into Hack and Slash, Combat row 5 (level 30), 5 ranks. At 5/5: Gives your melee weapon attacks a benefit depending on the weapon. Axe/Sword: Your successful melee attacks have a 5% chance to trigger an extra attack on the target. Dagger/Fist: Increases your critical strike chance by 5%. Mace: Your attacks ignore 15% of your target's armor. (build 69876, 16 Sep 2026).
Did Rogue get new abilities in WoW Forever?
20 Rogue abilities are new or changed: Energy, Mutilate, Venom, Thousand Cuts and Axes, and 15 more whose spell text changed from Classic, among them Cold Blood, Eviscerate, Expose Armor, Rupture, Blade Flurry and Gouge. Is Restless Blades in WoW Forever?
No. The BlizzCon demo showed Restless Blades in Combat; the first beta client (build 69876, 16 Sep 2026) has Flawless Execution there instead, Combat row 4, 1 rank. Reduces the Energy cost of your Eviscerate ability by 10.
Did Vigor and Opportunity change for Rogues?
Yes. Vigor moved from Assassination row 7 to row 5 and went from 1 rank to 2. At 2/2: Increases your maximum Energy by 10. Classic, 1 rank: Increases your maximum Energy by 10. Opportunity is still Subtlety row 1 and went from 5 ranks to 2. At 2/2: Increases the damage dealt by your Backstab, Garrote, Ambush, and Mutilate abilities by 10%. Classic, rank 1 of 5: Increases the damage dealt when striking from behind with your Backstab, Garrote, or Ambush abilities by 4%.
Can WoW Forever Rogue talents still change before launch?
They can until launch. Since the first beta client (build 69876, 16 Sep 2026) one build touched Rogue talents: build 70170 on 1 Oct 2026, only in their wording (Venom and Setup); the other 9 builds and 1 round of server hotfixes through build 70245 on 6 Oct 2026 changed none. The beta runs until 21 October 2026 and the game launches 4 November 2026; this page is checked against every build.
Which Rogue talents changed in the latest beta build?
Build 70170, 1 Oct 2026, is the newest build that changed Rogue talents; the 4 checked since changed none. Setup now reads "Gives you a 33% chance to add a Combo Point to your target after Dodging one of their attacks or fully resisting one of their spells." (was "Gives you a 33% chance to add a Combo Point to your target after Dodging an attack or fully resisting a spell."). Venom changed further on in the text, past the first sentence.
